OMG Mozilla BrowserQuest

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Post » Thu Mar 29, 2012 6:49 am

I tried to see if this would run in IE10 on Windows 8 Consumer Preview, but I couldn't even enter a name on the loading screen. This is a bit puzzling because IE10 does support Web Workers, Web Sockets, Canvas, etc.

I fiddled with the F12 Developer Tools and got this message:

In keeping with the spirit of the game, they should have displayed this:

I love HTML5, Construct 3, and browsers. Lots of browsers! My current faves are Chrome, Vivaldi, and Brave. I used to like Opera, but something seems to have gone wrong with them. I used to love Firefox, but they went very wrong! (We don't talk about IE or Edge.) Oh, yeah, SeaMonkey is still cool.

They should make a fully fledged mmo out of this

I'd pay to play that!

In Statcounter, it shows that IE still takes 35.75% users of the world.
Asia even worse, IE takes 76.89% in China, 64..46% in Taiwan,
the most advanced country is Japan, still 54.36%.

In these 2~3 years, can you make a decision to spend millions of money to make/maintain a mmo, and prepare to tell your investors: "Hey, guess what? more than 40% users can't see our game!!" ?

As for Flash, mmo was an already done game genre. You can check this old famous game:

By far, HTML5 is just showing it can do something Flash can do in some experimental ways;
however, the chance of future will never on PC anymore. The real value of Mozilla's BrowserQuest is that it can be played both on PC and none-flash Mobile.

That's why AIR 3.2 so scary! It will take the superiority of HTML5 away!
I know I am not an optimist, but maybe one day we'll cry and beg an AIR exporter soon.
Frankly, if I can make 50,000 USD, I won't care it's 9% or 30% fee.

Good topic, exciting development, but this is surely misplaced in the 'Construct 2 general' area - and duplicates this thread which is in the 'Open Topic' area. Discussion best continued there?Velojet2012-03-29 19:08:22
