Hi folks,

Just a wee note to thank you all for your help over the last few days - I've been scouring the forums for answers, starter sprites etc, while building a simple platform game as a summer project with my seven-year-old son.

He's been absolutely enthralled with the whole process of game-building, and as we've put him into the game, he really has taken ownership of it, and can't wait to show his friends when he gets back to school after the summer holidays.

There are a couple of wee bugs still to be ironed out, and one that I couldn't find an answer for is how to stop the player from reacting as 'falling' when standing on a solid platform with a vertical sine movement. Any hints would be much appreciated.

If you want to have a look at what we've built so far, I've published it to my own webspace at:

Many thanks again,

Graeme Attkins
Happy dad with happy son!

Many thanks zsangerous - my son and I will look at this fix tomorrow - our last day of development on this game. Remember, it's not to be all-singing-and-dancing to all experienced gamers, it's his project, so need to let him direct the speed, style of gameplay etc.

We're also hoping to add in some touch-screen controls, so that his granny can play it on her iPad - will research that before picking him up tomorrow afternoon.

:)

Hahahah, awesome! ;] Its great, congratulations to you and your son. (In my first game I did myself as the character too, after all its my game and I should be in it!;P)
Spotted a little bug on the first vertical moving platform, when the platform is moving down its not possible to jump.

Kind of creepy but I like the idea haha, yeah the moving platforms made this game 20x harder because they're kind of buggy but, good job man.

I get an error when tryin to play it. :( Not the game, it's just not there to play (server issue?). Anyhoo, the fact you've involved your son and worked on it together is great and proof Scirra could be used in schools for other kids to enjoy!

Great work. A little buggy how you can jump too high and it resets you.

Out of curiosity: How did you get the walk cycle? Did your son walk across the room or did you have in on a treadmill?
