Particle example: Rain and snow

With a creative use of Particle Object many effects can be simulated - such as rain! It only takes one particle object.

I've added snow as well. Of course both could be polished, but the concept works!

If only I could make snowflakes sway a little while falling, that is shift X position back and forth...

Meant to say.. this is quite nice and of course mipey, you know now that I was inspired by this for my demo. How does this perform on your PC? Seems a lot of particles there.

I get around 240 FPS with rain. Maybe it was the parallax in your case?

Yeah I do have a lot going on. Like I mentioned, I think it's to do with the size of the asteroids more than anything... of course having multiple particle emitters probably isn't helping any!

It's too bad the particle spray is really inpractical when it comes to real games, since scrolling and wind causes problems.

...and it's like the angels crying :)

Download: raindemo.rar

Yes it is quite large, sounds are included for full experience. The archive contains not only the cap and the sounds but the executable also, to make sure you see and hear what I intended. I'm not sure how filepaths are handled, but I guess you need to re-import the sounds to the cap.
