Photoshop and Illustrator for game design?

Discussion of tools and resources for game developers

Hey guys! So I have a little question for you guys. I've looked around and found lots of stuff on the either /or question of PS or Illustrator for game art. Well I am curious if anyone has used both in the same game and/or if this is even something that can work. What I am thinking of doing is using Illustrator for things like characters, objects etc. and using PS for things like the background and textures.

Looking forward to hearing some of your guys' takes on this.

I think Inkscape is also excellent for 2d vector based game graphics. And it's free.

Yeah I've been hearing a lot about inkscape. Haven't tried it yet. Might have to check it out, though I love my PS and Illustrator.
