Yeeees, Fake 3D! Are you planning on making a full project out of these experiments?
I also played around with Fake 3D the other week, although using a different method.

I like the look of what you have now @Ares7. I'm not even sure the "fake 3D" look would improve your game. Although you could try actual 3D using the https://www.scirra.com/forum/q3d-v-2-4-3d-physics-skeletal-animation-update_t106677 Q3D plugin, I think it would work well especially for this type of game. I can't fully recommend Q3D plugin in good conscience without prefacing that the creator of this plugin has stopped developing/supporting the plugin (at least for now?). Still, I found it enjoyable and easy enough to use!

@spongehammer Just one layer. For the walls I've got a stack of tilemaps having their position offset in a direction relative to the layer rotation. Everything else is sprites being z sorted.
@Ares7 Not that I know of, but I'd like to get around to writing one at some point. There seems to be enough interest on twitter alone.
This blog post does explain the basic concept pretty well though even if it's for Game Maker: http://www.like100bears.com/writing/2d- ... ker-studio
