Bah, I mostly envy you guys' art skills, haha. I'm pretty good at the programming part, though not amazing at it, by any means.

Nice and colorful. Good job.
[/quote:2hhdg7f1]

Thanks, Danny! I'm very busy right now, but on my free time i'm working on character's positions like standing, light attack...

[quote="tulamide":2hhdg7f1]I hate you all! No, really

Most of the artwork presented here is not only good, it's fantastic. I mean, just look at the work of saint11, pyteo, inkBot, frpnit or Julmust. They are so professional by any positive means.

And me?
average programming skills
average music composing skills
average writing skills
below average drawing skills
...

If I only had 5% of your skills!

Damn!

*walks away crying and full of self-pity*[/quote:2hhdg7f1]

Tulamide, thanks for positive comments like 'professional artwork', i really apreciate that. But believe, it's hard for me doing a good artwork. And people like saint11 and pyteo are professional illustrators, so don't discourage yourself, 'cause i think that a good game relies much more on playability and fun factor than in art. And I read music composing skills?

Soon (if my work allows me to) more updates from me. Thanks all of you :D

I recently started using construct, just to try it out (I haven't tried anything like this before) and I went through a couple of tutorials such as the 'Ghost Shooter' and 'crazy Robbie' basic platformer tutorials. These tutorials are great, very informative. So I moved on to another tutorial I found on the Wiki named 'Vertical Shooter' and I completed what The Wiki linked me, and was very unhappy that I could not find a second part/completed tutorial. So I decided to try and figure it out myself, and add some features not included in the example game.

And This is what I came up with (Sorry for the poor text graphics, I'm not too great with photoshop so I used a generator)

I added such things not shown in the tutorial like the star field background, Menu screen with animated buttons, final score and the NPCs shooting back. At one point I did have a progress bar which showed level completion but I decided not too include it because I diden't really have the time to create more levels.

Just thought I'd post this, because the tutorial is great, and its a shame there is no completed guide (or one that I could find)

@blind1992: uhmmm sorry, I couldn't complete the second part of the tutorial because of lack of time( and my laziness). I barely get some time to mess with Construct nowadays.
I was going to post the completed source code but since you've implemented nearly all the features, I don't think I need to, but still if you want you can download it here

Shame, would have been great to see a completed tutorial, but I also learnt a lot from developing this past what the tutorial shows, so thanks for the great start, I'm going to continue adding to this. I plan to develope the ship animation a little further, possibly add a few levels if I get the time, different NPCs etc.

Hey do you mind sharing how you made that menu? I've been trying everything WITH sprites and I can't get it to work.

Thanks.

@ aclonegeek

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=6179

Skip through this tutorial, itll show you how.

Basics - Click the project button in construct (On the home tab) (next to the button to show animator, properties etc) and right click on where it sais layout, select create a new layout. Drag that to above your first layout, the layout at the top is the one it always starts with.

Then just place sprites, and under the event select system, and actions such as >On Click > Go to layout 01 or w/e its called.

Hope that helped somewhat.

[quote:295bxukr]And me?
average programming skills[/quote:295bxukr]
if you rate your skills in programming "average" then by compare i must at "minus infinity" level
[quote:295bxukr]
average music composing skills[/quote:295bxukr]
average or not - they are still present. i, for example - have none. so ANY skills in this area would be warmly welcomed :)
[quote:295bxukr]below average drawing skills[/quote:295bxukr]
as previously, ANY is always better then NONE. i cant draw a damn happy face without lines going all crazy. if not for the PhotoShop and various assests generators i have in my possesion any and all my games must have been made in ASCII

seriously Tulamide... for me you are a GameDev god. or at least arch-angel heh
