Publishing to Android

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 10:24 am

Currently I'm making a simple clicking game for HTML5 export. But when it's ready, I want to port it to Android and sell it for about 0.50$.

My question is: Does C2 stable enough (using PhoneGap, Appmobi or CocoonJS) for an export to sell? Because I don't want people rushing to me wanting their money back..
And whitch one should I use (I saw people like CocconJS very well)?

i remember:
cocoonjs* is a launcher it can't make apps right now as i see... but as ashley said they will support it to do apps ... if you try your game in browser in your mobile with fbs you will see it just 10-30fbs but in cocoonjs you will see it much more 60+ but more than 60 is nathing i think... anyway if you still making the game so keep the work ^^

Scirra made this very interesting blog entry about performances from computers to mobile phones, so I recommend you read it:

As a tool, Construct is very stable and mature to release a game with.
But as with all tools, it is what you make of it

@glerikud: you need a signed file for selling it. No signed apk-file means no release at google play.
Not sure if its possible to sign with the tools you mentioned.Last time i was looking fot, it wasnt....

Here's an app I launched on Google Play back in January https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jazzlebags.assgassfree&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5qYXp6bGViYWdzLmFzc2dhc3NmcmVlIl0.

I used PhoneGap to publish and have been using it ever since for updates.

iOS is a different matter - I can't get anywhere near the performance that I need using PhoneGap, so I'll probably move back over to a different exporter for that.

Phonegap build means you will need to sign the apk and do not have proper function of back button, or you can compile it in eclipse with phonegap and sign it on export and also map the back button or more simply disable it.

I'm using PhoneGap Build, so the back button isn't assignable and it just closes the app down when pressed, which works ok.

It seems I'll go with PhoneGap. Thank you all.
