Questions about purchasing Construct 2 Personal

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Post » Wed Oct 02, 2013 11:11 pm

Hello ,
For around 2 months I am "playing" with Construct 2 Free. Recently I used a "borrowed" license only to test it's CocoonJS/Android export since I was planning to buy the Personal license anyway. It seems that the time has come in order to join the Tizen competition (already tested the Tizen emulator, and works decent ... small issues with the text positioning).

I have the following questions:
I am planning to buy it from Scirra.com . Is there any advantage to buy it from Steam ?
In the license content there is the "Email" tag. Can be changed later (if I change my email adress) or it doesn't matter that much ?
What means "This payment is being made for a business" from the step "Review & Payment" of the license purchase ?
Is there any gift voucher I can use ?

1. Steam has auto-updating, but it's still recommended to buy it off scirra.com so you don't need to rely on steam.

2. I don't think it matters that much.

3. I guess Scirra just want to know if businesses are buying C2.

4. I don't think so ;)

Don't buy from steam. The steam layer over game makes it unstable, broken file association, can't open multiple instances of the program, it crashes often, freezes often, and won't close periodically.

Save yourself the hassle, buy it from scirra.com.

1. Yes, I know that Steam applications usualy have various issues/limitations. It happened to me I tried GM:S Free that had a compiling issue (pretty serious problem) and I and other users could not roll back to an older version and had to wait 1-2 weeks for the fix. As a workaround, the Steam users can now receive a standalone key if they want (still the layout editor is a mess, the interface looks like win98/dos, still has some bugs and the worst of all: the comunity is very agresive, if you point something about the issues you get downvotes or worst)

Long story short: So the Steam version does not have any advantage over the standalone version, only disadvantages.

2. Ok, then I will use my @live.com mail.

3. Still not sure 100% what it means, but I will let it unchecked since I don't have any official business (at lest not yet).

4. Well... at least I tried TGeorgeMihai2013-10-03 20:44:56

That is the decent thing to do, unfortunately Construct 2 doesn't offer the same, honorable thing. There stance is steam broke it, let steam fix it. So don't buy steam version, get it here instead.

Ok, done
I've got myself the Personal License. Let's hope things go well and I will upgrade to Business License

Quick small question:
My family name contains two "a". In the license name should I use "a" or "a" ? Could there be some issues in the future if I use "a" ?

Licenses should support unicode characters just fine. Use whatever you like and if you have a problem, let us know.

Steam protocol does not handle file association well, and a few other disadvantages.

Valve really needs to do some more work before they sell any other applications.

C2's steam version is only mildly crippled by this compared to Silo, and 3D Coat.

Yes, we see the medal on your portrait. You now have a status symbol even Ashley doesn't have.
