  • its exactly the same as the one we already have...

edit: and i just noticed that the lines between an event and a subevent are gone, many people have dyslexia (i do) and

it will be impossible to know wich subevent belongs to an event when you have a bunch of sub-sub-sub events on screen.

  • The best C3 feature I've seen yet is in that same screenshot though. Now we'll be able to copy actions as text! (Something that I really will use, though obviously not nearly enough of a feature to upgrade for.)

Yeah I like the idea of the lines, but they need to be better.

The way it is now in C2 you have to look pretty close to tell what's connected.

  • Agreed about the lines. As is it's hard, without them would be horrid. I'm guessing they'll keep them (at minimum be able to toggle them on/off). Color coding the lines would be a nice addition IMO.

  • what I'd like is a way to tag blocks of events with a color to help organize events visually, and for groups to have a footer to denote where a group ends.

  • Doesn't this solve most of that?

"Being browser-based, the UI style can be modified using CSS. We're keen to add a custom theming system to allow anyone to edit the appearance!"

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Prominent That's a good idea. I sometimes have to add comments at the end to make it easier to see.

I guess we'll see in a couple months.

no, if there are no lines, there is no CSS to replace, the "custom" interface we can do its just replace already created assets of the interface and colors.

At first I didn't notice but yes, I think it can be hard to see which one is a top level event and what's a sub event if you have lots of them.

I think we can ask for those lines to be back. Or to have an option in the properties to enable them if there's not one already that we don't know yet.

Yeah, I do that too. I add a few empty spaces in the comment as well as some text like End Groupname, just so there is some visible padded space to help me feel out where I am in the sheet and so everything doesn't just blend together.

You'd be surprised how flexible CSS can be - you can get very creative with selectors and pseudo elements. If the editor truly is created entirely in HTML5, this will definitely be possible.

This got me excited as well, I wonder how far the "copy as text" extends? Is it just the action, could it be the whole event block? Very obvious learning and teaching applications for here on the forum.

But what really excites me is that it would imply a relationship between the event editor and typed text; an actual typed syntax... Which could mean that C3 might have a text based event sheet for those that prefer to type code!

    EDIT//

Looking at it more closely, I really like the subtle border radius on the edges of comments and events.

Yep spot on. You can even add content with CSS, eg:

  • Exactly, CSS is very powerful. (I know after have worked with it) I do not worry about that one.

I know the CSS-side ability to add text/html that you feel is missing. I love that "hack". So you do not have to edit the actual html/php/whatever files but the CSS only, easier for update.

I just hope for it being able to shared so the people that are less fluent in CSS be able to adopt. And/or visual editor where you can easily change colors, fonts and sizes without having to know CSS. Similar it is now in Construct 2. just with extra option of going advanced mode.
