r125 sprite vs tiled bg multiple instances ios

Steps to reproduce:
1. preview capx, or export to ipad
2. click screen
3. click button for next layout comparison

Observed result:
On Ipad 3 multiple instances of tiled bg slow fps rather quickly.
Im getting a slow down after 30- 40 instances
Sprite on the other hand, while no where near as good as desktop does not slow down as quickly. I got well over a hundred instances before any noticeable difference.

Expected result:
While this is not webgl related, you would expect at least the same results.
Not sure if I would call this a bug

Browsers affected:
Chrome: no
Firefox: no
Internet Explorer: no
Ipad Safari: yes
Operating system & service pack:
ipad ios6

Hmm... don't think this is a bug, it's just Safari seems slower than usual at rendering tiled backgrounds. Wherever WebGL is supported they ought to be equally fast.
