  • Hi guys, what's up? I would like to introduce you to my first complete Construct 2 game, called "Remember the Dead".

    I spent a good one and a half month building this game, creating assets, balancing etc. The people who I asked for feedback during the design phases really enjoyed it. If you enjoy the game too, please give me some feedback and -if possible by any chance- please rate the game on Newgrounds, since this game is participating in their Construct 2-Competition.

    If there is anything you dislike, please let me know, too. I'm eager to learn from any feedback I can get.

    GAME IDEA:

    emember the Dead is a Puzzle-Action-Game with massive RPG elements. Defend your home town and yourself by teasing your brain with a classic memory puzzle game. At the same time, fight the incoming zombie hordes with your shotgun, earn experience, level up, buy perks and new memory cards from the gold you loot at the battlefield.

    Remember the Dead features three different difficulties, which should be suitable for players of all levels of experience. Also, you can adjust the difficulty of the game by setting the pace of how quickly your enemies level by yourself: Of course, fighting stronger enemies will give you more experience and a higher score.

    RtD was built using Construct 2 r119.

    - game consists of ~940 events in 9 event sheets.

    - file size is about 15 MB

  • I just had a lot of fun finding gems and being eaten by zombies, so thanks for that. So far, this is my favourite of the Newgrounds entries that I've played as the power-ups etc give it a bit more lastability. I managed to kill 20 zombies before I died, which is much more than I've ever managed in real life.

    I did notice a few spelling mistakes here and there, but with the amount of text you're using it was inevitable (still, it might be worth a touch up before the end of the competition).

    I'm hoping to have my own contribution finished before the deadline, though I've got a lot of optimisation to do for smaller mobile devices such as iphone (since that seems to be the main device Tom Fulp is testing on. Most of the issues he's experienced with the current batch of games seems to relate to the audio, which is always a problem with Html5)

    Anyway, best of luck with the competition.

  • By the way, I was just checking the tags in your game, and they don't mention 'Touchjam' or 'Construct2' (though you have put 'construct'). I seem to remember it mentioning somewhere in the forum that these should both be in the tags if you're entering the competition (just wanted to make sure you don't miss being entered, on account of a technicality).

    hi very addictive game, which I really enjoyed: the combination of the fight and solving puzzles, and spending

    the sounds worked well too,

    like the layout; moving between the town and to the fight scene

    you've got a winner there. tension from the word go...lol. you actually create a sense of dread and threat with slow moving zombies, because every decision makes or breaks you. i loved this game.

    well done.

    Seriously!? No, you are absolutely right: Spelling mistakes are always a bad thing. It always gives me the feeling that a designer/author was lacking dedication to his product. I thought I thoroughly checked for spelling mistakes, but obviously a few slipped through anyway. I am not a native speaker - however, that's an explanation, but no excuse ;o)

    Would you mind to point me to some of the mistakes I made??? I'd appreciate that!

    Hi Whiteclaws! I don't consider RtD to be a clone. For that it has too many different ideas; in my opinion it's just a completely different game. Yet, the game is inspired by hit games like Dungeon Raid or -as you mentioned- 10,000,000. Yes: It's a puzzle game with RPG elements. I think it's not a shame that you had role models, is it? However, thanks a lot for your feedback.

    'zombies are weak and vulnurable' should be 'vulnerable'.

    'regular cars' should be 'cards'

    then in the gym: 'increase damage dealed' should be 'dealt'.

    Considering english isn't your first language, you did remarkably well (better than a lot of english people). I'm sure I'll be drawn back into playing your game again soon, so if I notice any more spelling mistakes I'll be sure to let you know.

    Dave Hailwood: Thanks a lot. That's definitely going to help a lot. I'll try to find some time to polish that up. Currently my schedule is quite tight, that is why I entered the compition about three weeks before the deadline ;o) I'll see what I can do. Thanks a lot for your help.

  • this might be a good tool for poor memory victims. heck, it might even help alzheimer's victims. the interaction almost forces you to improve your memory passively, without even realizing it.

    I agree to some point, it improved my memory the more I played it, I find being able to see pairs more quickly..

    Hey again harrio! That is actually quite an interisting way of looking at my game. I'm not sure if a game with exactly that setting would be the correct tool to help sick people, however, it is a great thing for me to realize that I have created an entertaining product that helps people to "learn" / "improve" / "practice" while having fun!!! So thanks for that feedback!

    I like the idea that you can get something out of my game that sticks even if you quit playing!!!
