Replace Color Effect does not display in Chrome/NWjs Preview

  • Problem Description

    When in preview mode, whether testing in NWjs or Chrome, built in "Replace Color" effect does not display. When exported to NWjs or HTML5 or previewed in Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer, "Replace Color" effect functions as expected.

    Description of Capx

    Displays sprite with Scirra's "Replace Color" effect applied. Source color is dark grey outline, replacement color is a light blue. Button toggles effect off and on.

    Steps to Reproduce Bug

    • Apply "Replace Color" effect to any sprite
    • Preview in Chrome or NWjs
    • Export to NWjs or HTML5

    Observed Result

    Effect does not display in preview mode for Chrome or NWjs. Functions properly on export.

    Expected Result

    "Replace Color" effect should display properly in preview mode for Chrome and NWjs as it does on export or in Edge/IE.

  • Works fine for me here in preview mode with NW.js and Chrome 57.

    Are you sure WebGL is enabled at runtime? Try displaying a text object set to the expression 'renderer'. If your system does not support WebGL, it won't display WebGL effects.

  • C2 uses 7 Parameters while C3 uses 3.

    You only need Paramenter 0,1 and 2 in C3.

  • I think it was relevant.

    I was having trouble using 'Replace Color' in C3.

    I initially thought it was a bug too, it took me a while to find the solution.

    I used a third party search engine to find the two posts.

    I didn't realize it was closed until after I posted, it is very easy to miss.

    I did know it was about a year old though.

    I posted it just to help others as well, usually a link can prevent a few new posts.
