Scripting

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Is there any plan to add a scripting system to Construct 2? Coming from GM (and other languages) some things I find extremely counter-intuitive to try to do via the current interface.

Have you thought about maybe writing a plugin in Javascript?

Also what are you trying to do specifically?

Adding in Python like in classic would be nice.

Writing a plugin in javascript would probably end up being more work than it's worth. I was trying to write a game of tic tac toe with AI, and it's just killing me slowly piecing the massive amounts of events and such needed to make it work out.

Perhaps you could use both. A plug for everything you find counter-intuitive.

The whole point of Construct 2 is it is not scripting. It's all about the event system. Events are not for everyone - if you know how to program you might want to stick to programming tools. Construct 2 is designed for non-programmers.

I suppose. GM to me was kind of a great balance in terms of being able to visually organize event systems (object created, mouse pressed etc.) and then assign code to those. Unfortunately for me I don't have the cash to spend on GM HTML5 or the coming studio. Thanks anyway

What AI were you going for with TicTacToe? Something like Minimax? That might be quite difficult to do with events, but a generic Minimax plugin might work quite well.
