Scroll text?

Get help using Construct 2

Post » Sat May 25, 2013 12:50 am

Is there a feature somewhere that allows me to scroll a text item? I have a chat box where all the messages appear as people type... but once it hit's the bottom, it just goes off the screen... How can I can make it scroll? I have tried a plugin I found in here, but it did not work (plugin errors when I tried to start Construct 2 after loading it)

Thanks!

Append text: newline & TEXT.INPUT

putting ' newline & ' in append text makes it add onto the text object, start a new line, and on that new line put whatever TEXT.INPUT has for a string

Take a look... I'm using new line... but when it reaches the end, I need it to scroll...

Try aligning the text to bottom instead of top. Or move the text object up... or remove the first line of text!

You could try to use a text box object set to "textarea" and readonly. With a bit of javascript you can make the text box to autoscroll to bottom. See an example here.

@Magistross that worked great! it seems a little odd to have to exec JS to get it to scroll and there is no append... but it works, so Thanks!

Yeah, that's two basic features that should be readily available to the text box... Maybe @Ashley will find time to add them in the near future.

Anyway, as you see, we can easily do without !
