Scrolling backgrounds + Zoom in on me [EDIT HALP]

For questions about using Classic.

Post » Wed Sep 02, 2009 7:52 pm

For some reason, the screen won't...zoom in on the sprite. I haven't tried much, because I'm afraid it'll jeopardize it.

I'm assuming that scrolling backgrounds are a result from zooming in?

help ASAP, please.

okay, so the view on me works...

...kinda?

it's making me float up into the air now. :(

i also need my sprite to remain grounded at all times. it's a car sprite--i added the car behaviour.

its very difficult to figure out what you mean from this post.
you need to explain what you're trying to do, and what you're trying, and what's happening in a way that makes sense to someone not looking at your screen. your post is more of an expression of your confusion and frustration than it is an informative explanation of the problem.

for starters though. you can zoom in using the zoom actions in the system object (automatically included in your cap)

you can scroll to your object using the Scroll to Object action, also in the system object

it sounds like you might be trying to make the background move instead of your object, but thats not worth explaining if thats not what youre trying to do.

could you please clarify your problem, so we can better help you?

also, if youre afraid of messing up your cap, just save it again under a different name, and then you mess it up all you want and even save it, and youll always have your old backup to go back to if you need it

trying stuff out and making mistakes, and learning from them is the best way to learn

Post a .cap to show what you mean, it usually helps. Hazarding a wild guess from your post, I'd try enabling Unbounded Scrolling in the layout.

Are you talking about centering the view on a sprite, instead of zooming in on a sprite? I'm asking because of your reference to scrolling backgrounds being a result of it.

Also I don't think the car behavior has any gravity to it so thats probably whats making you float up. You can try adding another behavior like the platform or ball and then adjusting their other settings to negate the effects they have that you don't want. Or you can probably create a gravity effect with Custom Behavior but I haven't tried that out at all, so can't say how.
