Separate files/folders for EXE export

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 2:48 pm

Just to clarify what I mean, Construct 0.x exports purely to a single .exe file.

However, the main problem with this method of export is that for updates, patches, etc. you would need to update the entire thing, which is even more problematic and time-consuming for the end user if the game is large. It's only a good idea if the game is small. Otherwise, the whole export should be split into multiple files and folders, methinks.

OK, that can be an option when we do EXE export. It makes it easier to change, though, if event sheets and such are external - you know where to start looking for the score or damage variables, for example.

That is true, but isn't that the same of many games?

For example, with GTAIV, changing certain .ini files... Which can result in... I dunno, this.

Haha! :) Well, of course, but I was just warning you, because a lot of users actually complain when users can edit their games (or "steal their artwork", despite automatic copyright laws in most countries).

Well, yeah, but I'm not exactly worried about that, if people want it bad enough, nothing will stop them.
