Short musing: Default Audio Levels

Discuss game development design and post your game ideas

Something I've noticed in my friend group, whom I tend to send little game ideas and progress of mine, is that if I leave any audio at a 0db volume, it's usually a huge no-no.

Most of the time, a good default winds up being an average of -20db. Of course, with C2 I usually just set the overall volume modifier to that. So that's nice. But after I start adding audio options, I always make sure that the default is between way too quiet and loud.

Anyone else have experience blowing out their friend's eardrums with default audio volumes?

Yes, I ALWAYS have to lower it at least -5 to -10db at a minimum. Super loud
