"Skirra"? Or... maybe "Skeera"? Nah, definately

Just wondering how you guys/gals/ambiguously-gendered pronounce Scirra. I'm not sure if its Ashley's last name or if not how it was chosen, but I'm going to go out on a limb and guess "Seera". I don't know why, but that "c" looks pretty damn silent to me.

Yes, this is more or less the quality of posts that you can expect from me. Stimulating and thought provoking conversation? Feh. I'll save that for when I'm drunk.

Well in my head it's "Sirra", but I guess "Skirra" is fair enough if you want to pronounce it like that :P It doesn't matter, nobody talks about us in 'real life', heh.

Originally we were going to be "Scirrus", as in the Cirrus cloud with the Sci- prefix (it's the latin root for knowledge, or something). Scirrus.com was already taken, so a tweak later 'Scirra' was born.

Wait.. "See-rah" or "Sai-rah?" I've always considered it being "See-rah."

I say it in my head 'Sc - irra'.. Sirra sounds fair enough if the c is silent, though.

Because of the prefix "sci" I always pronounced it "sigh - rah", though through proper English grammar I believe that any vowel followed by a double letter changes it's pronunciation... in which case it should be "sih - rah"??
