[SOLVED]Assertion failure at runtime

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Post » Fri Mar 04, 2011 11:10 pm

I whipped up this little game, and was trying out the enemy smackability, but found there's a frequent error at runtime.

"Assertion failure: Cannot find instance on layer to destroy"

Once the error hits, everything goes haywire thereafter, even after reloading the layout.

Any ideas? i'm not sure if it's my scripting, an html5 problem, or a bug in the exporter.

Edit: here's a slight update: the enemy isn't destroyed, but is repositioned instead

Sounds like a bug - generally, assertion failures are bugs. I'll take a look later.

Thanks, Ashley!

I get the error in FF4 beta
In chrome there's no error, but still the same strange behaviors.

This should now be fixed in the next build, thanks for the report. If you need the fix urgently I can send you some updated files - the problem was in the 'go to layout' action, so if you remove that it should work OK.

Sweet!

I'm able to work around it for now, so I can be patient. :)
