Spawning Bullet Problem

Get help using Construct 2

I recently purchased C2 and am learning how to use it. I am having trouble with the spawning other object/bullet action. I set up the "spawning other object" - a bullet - from a small image.

C2 allows you to select "Wait until next action" for timing when the bullet comes out of image when I press the Z key. When I put in say, 5 seconds, and hit F5, then press down Z key, it spits out bullets from the elephant every time I press Z key. If I hold it, it emits a long black line. It's supposed to wait 5 seconds until the next bullet, even if I hold it, no? The bullets spit out as fast as I press the Z key, too. Help!

I started from scratch on another machine, creating a spawning bullet the same way, and the same problem occurs - the bullet comes out everytime I press z key down, and is not delayed 4 seconds as it should be. Am I doing something wrong is this a bug?

Wait will wait for X seconds and then run any actions after it. What you want is an extra variable to toggle to say when Firing can occur again.

blackhornet: thanks, will try your file when I can DL it.

anata: thanks a big bunch! It worked!!! I'm so pleased!!

Really appreciate the help, am a total ground-floor newbie on this. The Udemy video I'm learning C2 from works most of the time, but not in this case.
