Sprites for my game?

New releases and general discussions.

Post » Thu Jul 03, 2008 1:57 am

Well I'm having some trouble making/finding sprites for my game because, I am a terrible artist and I am not good at making character sprites, though I am ok at making ground type sprites. So could anyone tell me where I could get some sprites, or better techniques at making them? I need a small person sprite 32 x 32 or less. All the places I have gone to look for sprites either have sprite sheets, which I assume I have to cut out each frame or something, or it's animated gif's. If someone could help me that would be great!

By the way this is a 2d platformer.

Do an MS paint doodle to show us kinda what you want. I have tomorrow off and might be able to lend some small help.

Construct doesnt have any sprite libraries yet, so... try:
- Contacting an artist
- Googling 'royalty free graphics', 'sprites', etc
- Buy a graphics library - don't ignore it because you have to pay - often libraries are fairly cheap, high quality and you get loads of graphics for your game. Spriting is highly skilled work, which is why you'd be lucky to find somebody generous enough to give substantial work away for free!

If you can draw well on paper, then you could also use a scanner and Paint Dot Net (free Photoshop alternative) [url:3kesck21]http://www.getpaint.net/[/url:3kesck21] to convert your scannings to pure black and white, then colour them in using various effects to make sprites.

If that's the style of graphics you're looking for, I may be able to help. =P

But seriously, let me know if I can assist and I'll do what I can.

Yeah I know it looks similar to the kid, I sort of looked how he was shaped so I could make something that doesn't look like a square with a face, or just some blob. But don't worry I'm not useing that one anyway.

I honestly don't care either way. I'm not protective over the game like that. I was simply more amused than anything and a little flattered.
