  • I'm not exactly sure if this would be possible (license conflicts, or something of the sort) but would it be out of the question to have a Construct installer that doesn't require an internet connection?

The PC I use to create and play games on has no internet connection, and therefore I can't just transfer the Construct installer via a flash drive or CD. I thought about letting everything install and just moving that stuff, but I don't know what I'd need.

Is it possible to have an installer that does not require the internet, or perhaps that doesn't try to install anything but Construct? (I have the DirectX and whatnot, just need a copy of Construct that doesn't have a certain bug.)

Haven't posted in a long while, but I've been craving some Construct and would greatly appreciate a solution to this.

  • The Construct installer only needs network for the external bits (VC and DX redistributables), which you could download separately and keep.

they HAVE to be installed though. Really really, no way around it. If Construct crashes on startup, you probably skipped one of those.

So, download those and when installing offline, install the VC and DX redistributables first, then install Construct and cancel the network installs. No net will be required that way.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • I thought of that, but I thought Construct would stop installing if I canceled anything. Maybe it didn't. I'll be sure to try again when I can. Thank you.

  • Only the DirectX installer connects to the internet IIRC. You can hit cancel on the DirectX installer and Construct will carry on installing, it won't cancel the entire setup. But even if you have DirectX 9.0c you might not have the "optional" updates they release from time to time, that Construct requires (bad naming on Microsoft's part IMO).

You need the DirectX end-user runtime for August 2008 or newer on your offline PC, so to get that head over to microsoft.com and download the latest full DirectX installer. Then you can copy that to your offline PC, install it, and Construct should work (you can cancel away the DirectX installer that appears during Construct setup).

The offline DirectX setup is around 80mb. Considering Construct itself is under 15mb, we used the web setup to download the required files instead. (I think SourceForge also might not like basically becoming a file server for the DirectX setup.)

Anyways, that should work, let us know if it does.

  • Alright, I'll be sure to try that. I have both the installers, but it will take me awhile to get it transferred. When I do I will be sure to let you know if it works or not.
