Steamworks now publicly available for all

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Post » Sun Jun 02, 2013 3:39 am

Well since it's open for non-steam game owners to do stuff with it, it could potentially now be developed by a 3rd party instead of Scirra.

Only problem now is getting a C2 game on steam to test things out unless they got a testbed for it.

I'm hoping to eventually take one of my C2 node-webkit executable games and try to go for greenlight on steam. I'm quite capable of making a game (been a developer for a few years) but writing the plugins to include the steam api is beyond my current coding abilities. Is anyone working on this?

We are just starting to integrate the SDK with our node-webkit based game http://www.greenheartgames.com/app/game-dev-tycoon/ (which was recently greenlit by Valve). At the moment I think it will simply be a nodejs plugin but I haven't looked into it in detail yet. We are NOT using C2 so I don't know how much use our integration will be but we do plan to open-source the integration part once we get it running. If anyone else is already working on this then please let me know ;)pakl2013-07-09 05:24:06

@pakl isn't complicated? I've read this manual
https://github.com/rogerwang/node-webkit/wiki/Using-Node-modules#3rd-party-modules-with-cc-addons

Steamwork SDK is written in C++, then add node-webkit open source file amd Steamworks and compile. Also create another javascript function to access steamworks API... Sometimes it may crash and can waste of time... Well, it looks like a risky. Valve told us we have to use our own wrapper. What a lazy company.Joannesalfa2013-07-09 06:51:04

The game "game-dev-tycoon" with steamworks api is online on steam. Any open source plan in the next weeks/months?
