  • No, really. Ugh, it's a terrible site. I mean, just take a look at this:

And on top of that, I got a popup ad as well. Bleah. Now let's compare that to this:

Ahhhhh.... it's like a spring breeze lifting your soul. It's like puppies and kitties playing together in a meadow full of pillows and gumdrops. No ads, no popups, no garish, ghastly crap to look at... and it's a hell of a lot faster than Mediafire. Go there now! Sign up for an account! Awww, sorry. Like Dopple, I've had no popups no messages and no ads. It was the cleanest one I found. Guess I'll just use my own domain for hosting them then instead of being a bandwidth scrooge using file hosting sites.. lol.

BTW your avatar is SO appropriate for this thread

  • I've been noticing a lot of mediafire links too. Seriously people, use box.net or dropbox. There's a good chance people will not download your stuff if it's on mediafire. Do not even attempt to use rapidshare, megaupload or anything else with a big, shiny, spammy name. BOX.NET AND DROPBOX ARE THE ONLY OPTIONS!

  • Bah mediafire and dropbox are both my friends! I'll usually only use dropbox to show not yet ready stuff and in like chat or so but then mediafire for full release or so.

It's probably only me but I don't see anything so FNWBHFBTHBWEHTBSHTHBASB about all those sponsors and others? You see commercials everywhere! Though Popups are annoying but atleast I don't get any of em And secondly Mediafire never lost any of my files and it's fast enough for most stuff.

And please don't eat me! As I luv both of those

    EDIT

    Gonna give box a shot!

    EDIT2

Box has shitty 25meg upload max on free so thanks but no thanks!

  • Box has shitty 25meg upload max on free so thanks but no thanks!

Which is fine if all you are doing is just uploading a cap for Help/Tech or a demo in Creations or something. For larger files you can use Dropbox.

I use both. For more permanent stuff, like my Platform School tutorials, I tend to use box.net. For more temporary stuff that I might delete later on, or for large files, I use Dropbox.

Seriously... I really can't stand Mediafire. I am officially boycotting it as of now. I personally will no longer download anything that people upload to Mediafire, so make of that what you will.

  • Windows XP (full) loading takes about 40 seconds up to 1 minute (OS + antivirus + firewall + special search program + indexing program + USB ejecting program + clipboard + HDD monitoring).

Do you think, that waiting for 1-2 minute is too long?

I like dropbox, but use rapidshare.com and uploading.com. Why? My connection is fast enough (for small and middle files) on this two hostings. Is the hosting problem so serious for you, guys and girls? You have 256-512-1024 etc. etc. speed and you are not satisfied?.. Hm...

P.S. sometimes it's difficult for newbie to download files from RapidShare.com due to this requirements:

Deadeye you are overly dramatic like it is the worst damn download site ever.

there is hundreds of site that are worst then it.

When I us mediafire I post the direct link to the download.

I always right click "copy link location" and paste it here

    like this http://download555.mediafire.com/to0nf9 ... +test5.cap

no pop up add, you don't have to go to another site to download it. Everybody should be doing this with mediafire, or box.

  • [quote:1cvianxb]Deadeye you are overly dramatic

Oh, what gave you that idea?

(BTW, your right-click trick doesn't work for Mediafire, it saves as a .cap but the contents of the .cap file are actually HTML for the Mediafire download page )

yes, and this way you don't get all those pop up ads or another site page window to download it.

I did it to show that it goes straight to the download, that mean on pop up ads saving more time.

And pop up ads are the main reason you made this topic right.

This is for when people that are posting their links from mediafire and box for other to download.

1 place the mouse arrow over link ("click here to start download")

    2 you right click it

3 you select ("copy like location") to copy it

4 then you paste it in the download link in you post.
