So this is how my game looks on my computer ^

and this is how it looks on my friend's computer ^

This is bad :? Does anyone know what's causing the tiles to get all distorted like that?

Whoa that's crazy O.o

What computer is he running? Any idea on video hardware etc?

Could be just about anything but it's especially weird that it only seems to be affecting the ground tiles.

Just make sure on your friends computer that his DirectX is up to date... and that his video card drivers are also up to date. That's about the only suggestion I can give without more information.

All I know is her computer "is like..BRAND new".

I should mention those aren't actually separate tiles, it's just a 1024x320 image. All of the graphics, including this image, have been scaled up 4x so I can use pixelly sprites but still have smooth movements. Also, I read having giant images can cause problems so I chopped up the tiles image to 1024x320 rectangles, but that didn't seem to do anything :T

The computer will treat that as a 1024x1024 texture. It would be even better, if you cut it to 512x320.

BRAND new doesn't mean much these days... especially if it was some cheap off-the-shelf DELL special from Walmart or something.

It's probably got a crappy onboard video adapter or something. Without knowing what hardware is in the machine it will be anyone's guess as to the problem. Also, 1024x320 is far from a huge texture/image really. I have used MUCH larger in Construct than that with no issues.

Unfortunately there is no easy answer to the problem, but I'd put money on that computer having a crappy video card.

Also, updating the drivers for the video could fix it... even new computers still use old-ass drivers. When I bought my video cards, the driver in the box was 3 months old. Always get the latest version from the manufacturer or reference manufacturer website.

*EDIT*
Yes I totally forgot about that Alspal... I bet the video driver is stretching the image to 1024x1024.

Thanks for the advice. Any chance that might be what's distorting the image?

That doesn't specify the video card, but judging from the ram/cpu it's probably not a crappy onboard.

Are you using any shaders or plugins on the layer the platforms are in or anything? Otherwise try sizing down the sprite, as was already mentioned.

Good luck with finding the problem!

WOW.

So umm.. turns out she had put some sort of video settings as low as they will go, which totally ruined the graphics. After setting them all to the highest setting, everything worked just fine.

Blaaah. Atleast it's fixed
