Hello, the tilemap is awesome, is it possible to treat each individual tile as an object and not the entire tilemap on the future?

Would be very useful, actually, I just don't think it can be done with the way tiles have been implemented. Some uses...

>Destructible tiles like in Metroid
>Pinning tiles to moving platforms & interactive objects
>Making tiles transparent/invisible to reveal hidden paths

Well, now that I think of it you can just use a separate tilemap object with your tile(s) of choice. Not the easiest way to go about it but whatever..MadFactory2013-11-04 23:25:40

Yeah newt, Im awate its no easy task, but it would be very useful to define individual behaviors and properties on each tile on a tileset or create a family of tile objects.

Why can't you use regular objects for that?
Also, you are aware you can have multiple tilemaps?

If you want to do something like a moving platform, just throw in a Sprite on top of the tilemap. I doubt we'd ever code tilemaps to do everything sprites can when you can have the dynamic parts as separate objects.

Maybe I am not understanding the use of Tilemaps correctly, then again it did just get released. However should we not be able to use it so that multiple layer can go over top of each other on the same Tilemap? For example I tried to place a tree with a transparent background on the Tilemap over grass but the background turned white, and removed the grass.
