  • Hi! I haven't posted an update in a while, but I figured I would.

In case you wondered, this is a 2D space shooter. Featuring mostly artists from TIGSource. Web site is here.

Here are a couple of screenshots we did a week ago. Still working on the first stage and I'm hoping to have a playable level done within the month or so. Still missing a ton of art and new music. But it's coming along nicely. I'm really going to be pushing what you can do on the platform to see how it goes.

  • The graphics displeases me a little.

The background looks so pixel artish, whole the ships are loaded with brushed-looking blending and the color scheme of every clashes..

I think the artists should push for more consistency.

  • well a lot of the art is either in progress or from other sources (IE Placeholders) The entire project will be pixel art like. So scaled up, it will look like SNES graphics mostly.

I'm trying to avoid standard high res graphics as much as possible. I will talk with my artist some more and see where we can take it though. Thanks for the input!

  • Figured I'd post some updates. Just a note, all the art in the game will be pixel based from sources like TigSource, PixelJoint or Way of the Pixel. So don't expect to see high res graphics with all sorts of fanciness. I do wish I could add some better glowing, but I'm still looking for the right way in C2 to do it.

I got some of the platformer portion of the game laid out. If you click on the link below, there are some videos of it.

  • Produce this in liquid form so that I can hook myself to an intravenous drip and have it pumped directly into my bloodstream! This looks fantastic!

  • firebelly,

    very nice sir.

  • Been playing with some different tile editors. I was using Construct 2 before to do most of the tile layout, but I'm opting for a solid background with transparent sprites to simulate the floor. Here are some of the results of the last week.

  • Quite Nice !

  • firebelly,

those pixels bring tears to my eyes...purdy.

  • Looks great. As for the solid backgrounds. Be careful to slice anything larger than 1024 x 1024 because safari does not like them bigger than that. Been there done that ;( You can always place them side by side in C2 later.

  • Ahh, Thanks, I think I should be ok as each room will either be tiled or a decent size smaller than the screen! Good idea with multiple tiles though for size restrictions...

  • Excellent graphics! Love the art. Yet I think in some of your layouts the color pallet is a bit off balanced. Other than that its awesome.

Which ones in particular? The weapons room and bridge are my bigger works in progress. But any feed back is appreciated!

  • Hi Firebelly,

I think there is something about that creamy salmon colored sky that is throwing off the other colors. It seems to be muting them down. The only other thing that caught my eye was the bright red lasers with the purple projectiles in your first image posted. They seemed a bit too bright and I think they over powered your awesome ship. You have some totally awesome graphics in there. I love your ships, and I really love the trailings behind the ship. They look really cool when the ship covers big changes in horiz pos.

    Cant wait to play it.
