Testing Laptop

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Post » Fri Dec 07, 2012 11:40 am

My work PC is very powerful so I have no gauge on how well my game performs on low-spec machines.

I'm thinking of getting a cheap dual core laptop with integrated intel graphics. Is this too sh*t to test with? Or should something like this http://h20386.www2.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=C1Y86EA&opt=ABU&sel=PCNB

Handle Construct 2 games? I know it depends on how complex the game is.

I'd definitely say your game should run well on something like this.

Its ok, surely there's some cheap laptops with AMD/nvidia though.

That's good to know.

I want something that is a bit rubbish, basically trying to find a typical low-spec machine for the average person.

Intel HD Graphics are by far the worst - anything by AMD or nVidia is better - but on the other hand Intel graphics chips are very common, so I guess it'll give you a realistic impression of performance!

Yeah that's what I'm after, I'm just wondering if the intel graphics are so bad it's not even worth playing construct games on it at all.

I think that'd be a great test. I have a low-spec laptop and a netbook to test on and it's really helpful to gauge performance. C2-developed games run through Chrome actually run OK on a netbook, which was shocking too me.

Good luck, dude.
