Hi all

Can any kind soul explain how to make a text object appear and then dissapear from the screen [u:1ix2hhh3]after n seconds[/u:1ix2hhh3]?
I managed to make the text appear on the screen, however when i add a new Destroy action
the text dissapears instantly.

Thanks

Use the timer behavior.

Can you be more specific please?

On the Event Sheet Editor i have the following:

- On collision between player and npc
- Text: Start Timer "timertext" with length 1000, don't repeat, destroy when finished

So when the player collides with the NPC the "timertext" is activated for 1000 milliseconds just once, and then it destroys itself. It doesn't work and i have no idea what i'm doing wrong!

Try the Fade behavior maybe?

Are you creating a text object in that event? If no text objects exist, actions on the object have no effect.

Other than that, try posting a .cap showing what you mean.

I've solved the problem by using an action to make the text visible first! Now i encountered another problem. I want to destroy the message only if i press a key. :?

Use the mouse and keyboard object and only start the timer when a key's pressed?
