Did anyone do this? I ended up making a functioning game with horrible graphics! Check it out here:

My game is here: http://epictigi.itch.io/chaosincandyland

You have to feed a king with candies.
Its more like an interactive joke than a game ;-)epictigi2014-02-04 16:41:10

Well @epictigi and @SecondDimension I want to warn you both that they're aiming for small developers (As I've seen on twitter.) So I've stopped working on my game and didn't publish it.

Seriously, is this something to worry about? I mean I just make games for fun. Are they going to sue me and take my car and my house? Am I more at risk being an individual hobbyist than a registered company? Does it matter that I've never made any money from games?
All interesting questions that I don't know the answers to.

@SecondDimension Well, I myself, I'm worried. Although I live in Egypt and I don't think there's laws or something to GameDev...

So I've cancelled my game "Candy Jump" because even if they're going to do something through internet, I don't want any troubles.

You can wait and see what they're going to decide in the end.. I think the two words "Saga" and "Candy" aren't going to get copyrighted (Personal opinion).

I think it's better to be in a registered company but being individual isn't bad (For copyrights) As they will try to make a deal/solution with you to work that out instead of suing you and stealing your game ideas like many others. (Again, Personal Opinion).

I don't think making money from your games is related to this.. But if you make money from your "Candy" game they might do something about that. (They're earning 600K+ daily from their "Candy" game.)

It'd be helpful to look in your Country's laws and other things about Trademark, Copyright and Game Dev. and if you know any lawyer, it'd be better to ask him.
If law got your back in this, You won't have to worry about your car/house. (More Personal Opinions)

All of the above are my personal opinion.
I hope I've answered your questions in a way or another.
Be careful from such things and you don't have to make a "Candy" game now... There's a lot of other ideas you can make games about till "King" remove the Copyright of "Candy".

Cheers,
Hady Hayman (IamHadzy)
