The Future:2030 Competition Discussion

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

-Silver- wrote:Awesome idea. I usually base games around medieval fantasy themes, so this should help push me out of my comfort zone.

Are there limitations to keep in mind for the Newgrounds network? I'd love to make a game that runs fullscreen 1920x1080, but all the games I see over there are in tiny windowed displays. Is there a specific resolution we need to work to (useful to know for UI scaling, etc)?

I'd like to know that too, and anything else Newgrounds wants. I assume we can put our games in other marketplaces and that we retain all copyright. I'm the opposite of Silver. I want my games to be best on little phones. And I'm starting to eye the Pebble 2.0 SDK for really small games! :lol:

I'm very excited especially this is my first competition I'm going to participate in. I'm too young but I hope make a success game. plus @Ashley , should we export by "HTML5 Website" exporter, right? Good luck to all participants! :D

@-Silver-, NG recommends keeping 16:9 aspect ratio and offers up some resolution options, although these are geared towards the hard-of-maths rather than being the only ones you can choose from. If it helps, my game will be 848x480 with an option to select full screen for those with powerful enough video cards. Here's the Game and Movie Standards link.

Thanks for the info, Colludium! 848x480 seems to be the largest resolution in their list of suggestions, so I'll work with that :)

Does the 2030 Newgrounds Gamejam have any size requirements for resolution?

I don't know about holiday on the moon but while searching for theme i found that there will be a hotel in the space and new kinds of planes will be there which fly out from earths gravity pretty easily. Water will also be a big problem along with population and ofcource robots will be there dominating human race... haha

@farsmile90
How to enter
Build your HTML 5 games in Construct 2, and submit them on NewGrounds.com tagging your entries with the tag "construct2030jam".

You're allowed to enter as a team, but the prize can only be delivered to one person (it is up to that person to distribute the prize amongst the team).

You're allowed to submit as many entries as you want. All entries must however be made fresh for the jam (you can't submit games you've already published elsewhere).
