The Golden Spiral is one of the most popular strategy games. This is mainly due to the very old age of this very popular leisure which attracts as much the seasoned players as the new ones.
This game of reflection would go back to an era prior to that of the Ancient regime. The latter regarded the Golden Spiral as a noble leisure, requiring strong analytical and deductive capacities in order to choose the best strategic and tactical choices
Tournaments continue to be regularly organized and the rules are scrupulously defined so that they are identical in all cities.

The number of people regularly playing the Spiral of Gold is valued at several million across the continents and the number of people who have said they have at least participated in a part of their lives is estimated at several billion. It pits two players with a number of medals and whose goal is to lose as many medals as possible to his opponent without losing too much himself. One of the most important features of the Golden Spiral comes from the fact that it is mainly a game of synchronous strategy, that is to say that the players decide their move simultaneously without knowing what will play Their opponent. It is therefore very important to succeed in guessing how the opponent will behave and also to blur the cards in order to mislead him. There are also asynchronous phases of play in which the participants play successively. This is especially true of the periods dedicated to the Strategy that allow the best players to make a difference.

The Spiral of Gold derives its origins from various games symbolizing armed confrontations, gigantic battles The motto of I happens to be "The Council directs the army with courage", showing well the military dimension intrinsic to the game.

The Spiral of Gold brings together two participants and requires the appropriate play equipment for each player: 2 dice with 6 faces, 2 medals with stars and 13 medals with two faces, a gold face and a face engraved with a spiral, These are the Gold and Spiral sides respectively.

The goal of the game for each of the two participants is to beat their opponent. To win the game, one of the two players must put his opponent in Defaut, that is to say he has lost enough medals so that he can no longer play.

Image

At the start, all the two-faced medals of both participants are laid flat and are all turned to the gold side. The star medals (Joker medals) are arranged in piles to the right of each player.

Each game turn is called Spiral and consists of three main phases: Confrontation, Strategy and Reinforcement.

Image

Image
At the first Spiral (and in the succeeding ones), each participant secretly chooses a number on each of his dice. Each of the two participants reveals his dice simultaneously: it is the Confrontation.
The sum of the digits of each of the 2 dice forms a number that is compared to that of the opponent. The participant who has chosen the highest number, returns on the Spiral side a number of medals placed on the gold side equal to the chosen number. His opponent loses a number of medals placed on the gold side equal to the difference between the two numbers. These medals permanently disappear from play and are placed in the discard pile. In the event of a tie, it is the status quo, neither of the two participants loses or returns medals and goes directly to the Reinforcement phase.
The number announced by the dice must always be strictly lower than the number of medals on the Gold side of the participant. If a player breaks this rule, he automatically loses the game.

After the Confrontation comes the moment of the Strategy. Each of the two players may, if they wish, use in this phase a single Joker or a Double Joker among the following two lists:

Examples of simple wildcards

Double Confrontation: The player using this Joker, forces his opponent to a second Confrontation before moving on to the Reinforcement Period.

Image

Reserve Medals: Two additional Gold medals are added to those available to the player, without the player having more than thirteen medals with this Joker.

Image

Appropriation: This Joker allows you to retrieve either an opponent's medal placed on the Gold side or up to two opponent's medals placed on the Spiral side and to appropriate them.

Example of Double Jokers

Full Reinforcement: At Reinforcement, the player using this Double Joker may
Return all his medals on the Gold side.

Switch: using this Double Joker, the participant returns all of his or her previous Spiral side medals on the Gold side and any previously placed Gold side on the Spiral side.

Duplication: The participant using this Double Joker can exchange up to two Spiral Medals against four Gold medals of his opponent, or up to two Gold Medals for each Spiral Medal given to the opponent.

The use of a single Joker costs a gold medal and a star medal,
Double Joker costs two gold medals and two star medals. Once used, the star medal (s) is (are) given to the opposing player, the medal (s) on the Gold side is or are discarded.
It is possible to use only one Joker or Double Joker at a time during the Strategy phase of a Spiral.
The first player to speak in the Strategy phase is the one with the least number of medals turned to the Gold side. In the event of a tie, participants are divided into the total number of medals: the player with the least number speaks first. In case of perfect tie, one moves directly to the Reinforcement phase.

Image

At the end of each Spiral, a period of Reinforcement is performed. The player with the most medals placed on the Gold side and having one or more Medals on the Spiral side can return one Gold side. The player with the least Gold medals can return up to two.
The Spiral being completed (it is said to be complete) one can pass to the next Spiral if the two participants are still in race.

Image

The goal of the game is to put his opponent in Defaut. There are several ways to do this.

• During a Confrontation, a participant who announces a number greater than or equal to the number of Gold medals they own, automatically defaults.

• If, during a Confrontation, a participant can not pay the number of medals on the gold side planned after announcing the smallest number, it is considered as Default.

• A participant is considered Default if, at the end of a Spiral (after the Reinforcement), he / she has only one gold medal or no Medals on the Gold side.

A Defaut player automatically loses the game and his opponent is declared the winner.

I would have liked to have your opinion on the concept of the game, and also on proposing a system of purchase of micropayment in the range of 0,20 € - 0,50 € for bonus cards, mode To reimburse the costs of creations and online services (broadcast on Steam, AppleStore which have a certain cost to offer them on these platforms).

It will be possible to play against the AI or against players in lines (match, tournaments).

The game is in early development stage with an alpha version (rather buggy and rather ugly) but to have an early preview.

Thank you for reading me!
