• Hi,

I'm new to the forums, and I just finished a mini-game in the free edition of Construct 2:

It's a tea-break sized game to help fund a short film. Feedback is welcome, and if you like the game please check out the pitch!

  • Give me more levels.

  • Very nice game with a nice atmosphere and interesting pitch.

I showed the game to my mother ('cause she's audience target of that kind of games). She's running FireFox 3.6 (scared to update) and so the physics objects had little misbehaviors.

On the first try for example, the oil bottle ended disapearing in the fire hole. You may want to consider making some fix to prevent that from happening, since apparently, she couldn't have completed the game.

I tried it on firefox 7.0.1 and all seemed as intended though.

Nice implanting in the website and very neat overall ambiance. (The music helped a lot)

I liked the game design itself even if the scrolling might be a little narrow (you really have to be on the left edge of the screen for it to scroll).

As at first, the natural reaction is to stay away from the flames, it makes it a bit ackward at very first.

On the other hand, it seems to participate to the ambiance, once finaly you realized your character risks nothing.

Good job overall and I hope it will help promote the funding of your short film (even if the last "shock comparison" of the pitch is a bit of a cooldown. "I don't support, I'm a nazi" that's a bit strong even if I understand the comparison you make and the angle you took through the enouncing of this pitch).

  • Ha i was looking for a link to the game... Doh silly me. Anyway I like the graphics, and good luck with your endevours.

  • nice game sir,

of course i felt like an idiot when i finally figured out how to get the oil can...doh!

    well done.

  • Nice game and great pitch (very funny), will definitely be donating. Looking forward to the film.

  • Brilliant work, from the graphics, sound and music all the way to the game design. Excellent way to promote your project, hope that all goes well for ya!

  • Hi guys,

I'm glad you liked it, over all. And thanks for checking out the pitch.

If you get an opportunity to plug or tweet it in some way, that would be appreciated.

I can't take credit for the music, of course. I took it from the legendary Kevin MacLeod.

Kyatric, thanks for the bug report, I didn't think of running it in older browsers. Your other suggestions are things I'd definitely take on board if I did make more levels.

The Nazi comparison was meant in irony. Of course, I don't think people are Nazis just because they haven't donated to my film...

... but donating is a good way of proving your not a Nazi.

  • Beautiful game, and your pitch was hilarious I was laughing out loud! Good luck with it all!

  • Great work, very nicely animated and beautiful artwork! Done a well-deserved tweet and facebook mention

  • A delightful little game and a great pitch - very funny and I think you came across as having a really great persona, well done.

As for the game, I particularly liked the use of red as a visual cue to highlight usable objects - very good, but yet the kind of thing even the most seasoned developers often miss.

  • i miss more levels

    but the game was awesome!

nice graphics, atmosphere and good luck with your movie ;)

  • Thanks guys, and thanks for the plug, Ashley!

I'm glad you liked my persona Corvidae, it took a lot of work to create because in reality I'm repulsively dull.

I added the red highlights because I tried the game on a couple of film students and they had NO IDEA what they were supposed to do or able to interact with.

I remember watching a Let's Play of a freeware adventure game I made called Nelly Cootalot and it was the same crushing experience, but too late to fix it!

  • Immersive and professional work. Got sucked into the game in seconds. Art style and gameplay is a win!
