• You may (or may not) have noticed the link in the top navigation bar (^) between "Tutorials" and "Arcade". Manual

You may already have clicked on it, a while ago.

Be sure to click it again and read it.

    It's now 100% complete.

For beginners (and even advanced users, always good to refresh its memory) it's an interesting read. Especially articles like "How events work" or the "System object references", "the interface", "saving and sharing projects" or yet "the best practices for C2".

You can read it from top to bottom or browse for a peculiar article.

It's really insightful on how Construct 2 works.

I would profit from this post to express all my thanks to Ashley and Tom for the writing and displaying of this manual. Another awesome effort of yours and be sure it is noticed and appreciated a great lot.

And now Read the fabulous manual! RTFM

You can also find the manual in eReading format thanks to Nikou and in PDF format thanks to NickyDude. Another PDF version by

I've looked through the whole thing, and none of the articles seem particularly peculiar to me. Most of them are actually rather sensible.

    Badoomp.

  • plauk, I guess Kyatric meant "particular", English isn't their native language (like a lot of people on this forum).

Glad to hear people are finding the manual useful though! (It's taking quite a long time to get it all written up, but hopefully it won't be much longer)

    Edit: missed the joke, lol.

  • That's right, but I found Plauk's joke funny though

Glad to hear you will soon be done with this monolithic work Ash.

In my eyes, it is really one more important feature to C2.

A complete/clear/maintained manual users can stick to. And it's quite a quick read actually. Articles are clear, efficient and well illustrated.

    here, here.

  • Brilliant having a manual now - and such a well organised and clearly written one!

A suggestion: put a prominent link to it on the Start Page of the next release of C2.

  • & Kyatric:

I couldn't resist. I do it to everyone, even in person. It's probably the single most annoying thing about me. :D

  • I completed my post explaing something about creating games and gamedesign. I don't know where put it. In manual or Tutorial. =x

  • We aren't taking user submitted manual entries yet, and we're not sure we will, so go for a tutorial for now.

  • Okok.. here my first tutorial here. I hope you enjoy people =)

  • I would like to see a downloadable command reference manual in the style of:

    JavaScript: The Missing Manual.

All commands, features, structure, families explained there, short examples only in a few lines, no tutorials, because they are taking up too much space.

    Thank You!

Ps: For all of you Tutorial Writers: THANKS A LOT!!!!! You are making beginners lives easier.

  • That's what the manual is.

All references to plugins and behaviors aren't complete yet. But you can browse through all the system ACE, C2's interface and have reference for half the plugins as of now.

When the manual is complete, it will be downloadable.

  • Great news: The plugins references are now complete !

Be sure to check them out to learn more about your construct tools

  • Great news: The plugins references are now complete !

Excellent ! Very clear explanations, and very helpful.

  • The manual is now finished. Get your RTFM, Manual Student, Manual Graduate and Manual Expert badges everyone!
