You already can, using the opacity of the shadow light object, and the height of the casters/light.

@donelwero can you be more specific? Like a flashlight? Which perceptive, top-down, side-scroller..?

@eli0s yeah, like a flashlight in a top-down perceptive. I wonder if I can limit the range of the light, in the examples the light goes all the way offscreen.

@donelwero You could use old example called "Lighting" using layers and blend modes, then mix with ShadowLight as envirnomental background, I'm pretty sure it uses a lot of CPU.

@donelwero

Here is a crude example. I am quite curious on how this can be improved upon. The main problem is that only one light can exist at one time (adding more lights, ruins the effect) and that the enemy can't quite exist on the same layer as the shadows without problems. I had to use the line of sight behavior to push him in front of the shadows when he is lit and visible by the player's perspective. A bit of a mess for a capx, but I have a terrible headache and I can't work any more for tonight...

@Joannesalfa thanks about that, I did thought about that too, but didn't wanted to make "all that" just to achieve a flashlight effect.

Here's a 10 minute flashlight example. The flashlight uses 8 direction behavior and you use the mouse to control the direction it points. Ninja'd by @eli0s, but this is slightly different.
