Ok @jeffige , no rush.
I have no idea what you mean by "preview lan", are u talking about using the "simulate" or "test' tabs in intelxdk?

This is an interesting topic. I have tried this and it´s not working on me either. Tested it on intel xdk test server. I also removed the desktop controls. I also tested this software and accelometer shows that my mobile does have these controls.

This was the game I tried. You can download and try it freely. I don´t know why it´s not working. btw it´s not my game so this is not a weird ad :)

Tried this too, but not working: http://www.sizzle-games.com/Tilt/

Tried it in web (mobile) and with android app preview (intel xdk test) and not working.

edit: Now tried the tilt app also on full android build. Not working.

Ok.... @Ashley I really think it's time you got involved here, can you help us out pretty please? Do we submit a bug report, and how do we even do that when it seems to not work under any scenario(to my knowledge bug reports need to be specific)?
This is one of the cornerstones of the new game I'm developing, I really need to get this to work in the end... :(

I looked up the specs of the Philips S398 and it doesn't say it has a gyroscope.

So, of course, if the hardware sensor is missing it won't work!

Ok @Ashley , so then why do the values under "Accelerometer" change when I move/rotate the phone in the app @jeffige linked? This app.

The accelerometer tells your phone whether the screen should be in portrait or landscape mode. That is about it.
It has a Compass too, this tells your phone what direction it is facing. But that is not exactly helping.

Say, you are holding the phone direction North (compass), in landscape mode (accelerometer) ....
and now you want to tilt the phone (still in landscape, and your couch is still facing north) ...
then you need a gyroscope.

@VIKINGS

Hey did you ever figure this out?

It seems that my game doesn't work on some of the phones that have installed it. Going to try and run down the problem and hopefully a fix today.

Even some phones that are new (within the past year) DO NOT have a gyroscope. Really disappointing.

Nope @jeffige , no solution yet sadly. The only thing I can think of is you put both options in the game for people motion movement&sprites on screen/buttons movement and you just let them change the option.
That way you can cover as many people as possible, that's what I'm thinking of doing. Not ideal, but what can you do...? :(
