Top down view, height? Z height?

Get help using Construct 2

HI Guys

i need to model some physics for a top down view game.
I need a ball and it needs to bounce from a top down perspective.
Also it would help if I can tell the height of the object, again from top down view. Is this possible? Is there a Z height ?

Thanks guys, great tool - I hope!

I don't know about anything like this, but you can use the scale property and a variable Z on your ball, that you update manually with a function simulating the Z value/the physic model. You could simplify this with some sin behavior though, it can be pretty close to the real model with some tweaking.

Thank you for your reply.

But surely there is an easier way? Gravity is in the game already, can I not allocate the properties to a new Z variable instead of the expected y variable? Or somehow create the new variable and initialize with the box2d engine?

HI

Could anyone lead me on the best way or a tutorial on creating this function? I have played around with the event sheet and instance variables zHeight, zVelocity and a global var gravity. But I am not sure using each tick on the event sheet is the best way to do this? Should i make a plugin or custom behavior? where to go next!?

Thanks for any guidance guys.

You could just bounce a ball offscreen and use it's y value to display the size onscreen, couldn't you?

I'm not really sure what you are trying to do exactly in the game, so I might be wrong..
I told my dentist I had trouble with my teeth and asked her to fix it without looking in my mouth..
