Turn-Based Strategy movement obstacles

Get help using Construct 2

I'm having trouble telling the game to not allow character sprites to cross table sprites. I've been thinking maybe I went about the movement for the character sprites all wrong.

Ah, the files are still uploading to Dropbox.

The table sprites are just sprites of tables in the layout. I don't want the characters to be able to move onto or across the tables but I can't figure out how to do it. I'm thinking the collision recognition doesn't prevent this since my movement is through "set position" but I can't think of any other way to control the movement.
