using effect on sprite makes text go weird?

New releases and general discussions.

When the game is zoomed in, and an effect is applied to any sprite at all in the layout it will make text go weird - sort of like a glow. I've basically avoided using any effects in my game because of this, but I would like to use them. Does anyone know why this happens?

Left: no effects used on any sprite, text appears normal.
Right: additive effect used on left sprite, text appears weird.

I don't know why it happens, but it is corrected if you enable "Force own texture" for that layer.

With "force own texture" enabled in layer properties, the layer's text opacity seems to be about 5% less than it should be. I have my text set to 100% opacity, and yet I get some colours showing up from the layer below through the text.

Add either "Smart Text" (for 2.0 by Ashley) or "Text" (0.0 by David) effect to your text objects. (I think "Text" works for any gfx card, so is the most reliable solution).

It should enhance them, whatever effects are going on around.Kyatric2011-07-25 12:03:32

Thanks, "text" effect helps with the opactiy issue, but it makes the text appear thinner (and "smart text" makes the text unreadable). So I'm not sure if that solves the problem unfortunately.
