Valve introduces Steam Greenlight.

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Post » Tue Jul 10, 2012 10:40 am

I just thought this might be relevant:

http://steamcommunity.com/greenlight

Basically they are changing the way that games get on steam. When Greenlight launches, the community will be the one to decide what games are sold on Steam with a vote system. Obviously this is mainly focused on Indie games.

Now my only concern is if this has any restrictions to what game engine is used, mainly if Construct 2 games could be accepted, via .exe wrapper for instance.

What do you think?

They accept Flash games, so Construct 2 games wrapped in an exe should be accepted too.
3. Do you take XNA, Flash or Adobe Air games?
Yes, we accept all three types on Steam. Flash games need to be wrapped so that they launch from a stand-alone executable.
Sounds like a Kickstarter for Steam. Interesting!

Great news! This and 360 implementing IE9 (Aye.. It's IE9.. But what else where they going to use?) could mean very interesting times for C2 game dev.

@Mr E Bear:
Well, they could make a proper browser, then release it on 360. Just a suggestion.

This is great news though, I didn't really consider the possibility of C2 games on Steam when I read about Greenlight earlier.

Very interesting news. Hope we'll see many more indie game makers being featured. Even from the Construct 2 community.
