Web-Nodekit - Download files to disk

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Post » Wed Jul 09, 2014 6:10 pm

Hi guys,

I am wondering if it's possible to be able to download a certain amount/array of files to a disk on ones local computer. The reason I am asking this question as I want to make a Launcher that can auto update games. Is this possible in any way?

Thanks in advance,

You can use Node-Webkit for all sorts of file actions. Including Writing files to disk.

There is already a great way to have an auto-updating game: host it on the web!

Not an answer if you want to use Node-Webkit though.

You can use the open source Updater from Ragnarok Online Private Servers (*Athena projects), where it download files from an index and replace, zip, unzip, and much more as you desire, plus, you can setup a PNG as a covering image.

i.e. of patchers: http://rathena.org/board/files/category/152-patchers/

I know some private projects where they did it using Visual Basic, but you should ask there for more info.

I also plan to use nodewebkit for my new game and I am writing a launcher for it to update it automatically on startup.
If someone needs a custom launcher I may be able to help.

Sorry let me rephrase :P

I don't want to create a game, I am wondering is it possible to use construct 2 to download a array of files to a local disk.

@spongehammer
Tnx i saw that, but how would one go about getting a certain file from a certain link to your disk?

@Ashley
I don't want to create a game here :P a simple launcher that works cross-platform to download files
