Hey i want to set up a websites for games and other stuff and make some money of the ads.

I don't like Wordpress, Weebly looks interesting...

But html seems easy to learn from scratch, is html enough to create a website for html5 games, blog, video links and ads?

Log ins would require php and sql knowledge I think.

Weebly is this webservice right ?

Comparing HTML & weebly is like comparing cooking and going to the drive-in of some fastfood.

Weebly is a key in hand service from what I understood, whereas with HTML (as base) you have to build and host your website all the way.

If hosting is something you're already familiar with, you might want to take a look around at some CMS (joomla, drupal, elgg, ...) that might allow you to host/distribute your games (they are just some HTML/JS code addition in a page/article) and already has some membership system in PHP.

If you have no clue about all this, maybe go with the webservice if they offer good companionship on the configuration/maintenance. That'd probably be the simplest.

Yeah I know a little bit about hosting :)

Got FileZilla and know how to use it.

I just saw Weebly and it reminded me a lot of C2 :p

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMHhPrB0Ep8   shows the code snippet thing..

Thx, i look up Joomla, etc and see what i like the most.

But i suppose it is still a good idea to learn a bit of html?

HTML you can learn in one day,and all the day you will be playing with few Tags like Bold, font color,tables,images,links...it's easy as write what you want and where you want your stuff to show in your webpage ^_^

But if you want to make a community for games, you need to learn a server side dinamic language to make User registrations,scores,forums,medals,etc... like PHP/ASP are the most used languages to develop web applications =)

But believe me...you dont want to learn programming from scratch...i recommend to you Joomla, it already have all what you need for a community...it's easy as Construct to make games =)

pd...and of course, if you just want to publish your games in a website, just use Weebly, has everything you need to build a site online (drag and drop style)^_^nanitoz2012-05-13 21:11:25

@Schoening Why not? I'd go for Wordpress over Joomla and Drupal any day. And so would the majority of users. Which means you've got a bigger community to advise and help you.

Agreed, WordPress also has a huge library of plugins and themes, so it's pretty easy to customize to the way you like.

Yeah well.. I did not like it, I felt very restricted since it is more for Blogging.

I might as well stick with something I feel has a bit more power to it :p

Wordpress it's native for blogging xD! there is a lot of plugins to make it looks like a CMS but never gonna be like one...i think

Drupal it's a good choice too...similar to joomla and great resources to make what you want in there ^_^
