Discussion and feedback on Construct 2
A quick question: is it possible to set it up so that when you choose Run Layout, it opens the layout in Firefox or Chrome, as opposed to IE?[/quote:2tygi6pw]
Obviously would be a useful feature but it's just one of those not-a-showstopper things that's been postponed. For now, you can just cut and paste the temp URL when previewing in to other browsers.

[quote:2tygi6pw]I do like how the sprite editor is now MSPaint[/quote:2tygi6pw]
That's actually an intermediate measure until Davo comes up with a new picture editor :) However, if you like it, I guess an option could be left in for it. Also, it's the system-default PNG image editor, not just MSPaint - I've got Paint.NET installed, and that launches instead. And it supports alpha transparency, so that's kind of helpful :P

Nice work. The HTML5 is very nice and future vision.

I tend to agree with tulamide, browser export kinda puts me off... it's a nice feature, but I do look forward to when other export options become available.

Other than that it's great to see some of C2. Unfortunately I'm no good at helping with the development, but I'll keep an eye on things and look forward to it's growth.

HTML5? Aww, too bad.

Still cool, but I'd have preferred standalone executables.

I think standalone exe's are in the list, I hope it's free and you don't have to pay for standalone exe's, also what plug-ins will be payware? will platformer be free or none of this is decided yet?

My 2 cents.

I think that the notion that hTML5, cloud computing etc are a panacea is not necessarily the case. However, the way Construct2 can use numerous exports is a great idea, but I would personally have hoped for the exe to be the standard, and HTML5 as an option.

I look forward to seeing how this all turns out. Good start, guys :)
If your vision so exceeds your ability, then look to something closer.

Hmm. This is just awesome. Ashley, your group will go a long way in the land of Gaming Technology. Cheers!

In a first page, I read something about running the games in Iphones etc. Does that mean that in the future, we can export it as .jar? For mobile phone games. like.... Zenonia?

Awesome! Had a little play. Didn't like it when I put in some values it couldn't understand.

Question for Ash: will exported games be obfuscated, or will there be an option for it?
[rant]I don't understand, why everyone is so happy about being forced to create browser games now? I have to tell the people that I can't give them a fullscreen hd game, because it only runs in a browser. I also have to force them to use either chrome or IE9. They will laugh at me and then play the real games.[/rant][/quote:3hwp47ko]

I'm actually quite impressed by this choice. It's the one that gives the most flexibility in product dispersal. Also, I would predict that an .exe exporter will be written, just as soon as all the basics are down.

Just like what I see on previous topics about C2, the final games will be exported in several or if not, few file extensions aside from .exe. So yeah. Having more than just .exe as a final product game format is better.

Wow, this is cool. I'm quite taken by surprise that everything is being done in HTML5. I wouldn't have thought of it. I just hope we see good quality exporters because not all games need to be web games. I also noticed on the feature thread that apparently pixel shaders can't be used-- is there going to be some way to get equivalent effects? I like my graphical craziness and, paired with still-poor HTML5 performance across the board, I'm concerned that this whole HTML5 switchover is going to make Construct more appropriate to "toy" games (like Flash) than serious projects.
