What does Scirra mean?

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Post » Mon Jun 02, 2014 8:30 pm

Hey friends,

today I watched a video of someone imitating all 150 Pokemon...don´t know why, but i thought Scirra would be a great name for one as well! :-D

Well that lead me to my question....where does the name Scirra come from?

Does it have a special meaning?

I´m just curious :)

Ashley said that the company was originally going to be called Scirrus (the portmanteau of science and cirrus, after the cirrus cloud) but the scirrus.com domain wasn't available, so he simply experimented with changing the ending of the word until he found one he liked - thus Scirra.

Found the topic about the meaning, It was kind of old so I worked my way from the last results back to find it.

Thanks friends!

It´s not that I´m not able to use the search, it´s just that I´m always searching for topic-titles only, cause everything else results in a zillion meaningless hits. Also as a non-native I do not always find the right surrounding words like "stand for..." etc.

@shinkan - ha, kudos for referencing a 6-year old thread from 2008... I think the forum was only set up shortly before that! "nobody talks about us in 'real life', heh" - lol, hopefully that has changed now :) (That was way back in the Construct Classic days, nostalgia...)
