What is one thing you realised WAY too long into using C2?

Marketing is everything. EVERYTHING.
That's why endless, runners, swipers, slingshots, jumpers, humpers are still the hot sh*t.
Just when you thought the Match 3 market has been CLOSED by Candy Crunch, new ones with different themes still seem to be sought after.

Always be sure to comment everything so you don't spend several hours pondering what the hell does this series of events do in your event sheets when trying to improve your game or simply to fix the bugs, specially when making large games.
The comments are all automatically removed by the editor upon export .

I realised that one of the benefits of making groups, is that the debug feature shows how heavy my computer is thinking per group.
And I have read somewhere as a tip to make a layout where you can place all your sprites, to be used later in the game. I call it: the basement, or attic^^

How so?

Some of the older plugins/behaviors or ones made by beginners are not done correctly in order to be minified.
I'm not an expert but I think it just involves adding "[ ]" to some parts of the code. Basically the minifier cannot read through that kind of JS code and screws up.

That you can do a shorthand if's (condition ? result_if_true : result_if_false) in expressions. Somehow missed that in the manual ;)

it may not be used often, but the fact that you can reference instances by doing: Sprite(1).x for example.. or Sprite(-1).x can come in handy sometimes.

that applies only when you are using custom plugins and not the default C2 plugins. Because most of the custom plugins are not supporting the minify script, also its better not to use it, unless you export for html5 only. Nw.js and Android/IOS compilers might get really buggy that is from my experience, but maybe im doing it wrong.


OP-that groups are useless - and cpu intensive
