in July 2012

A month announcing the upcoming R100 with loads of crazy features and a soon price raise for C2.

If you don't have a license yet, here is the time or never to get one.

A month also seeing the birth of the new Scirra store.

And a month that saw the start of London's olympics, still Scirra is hard at work.

Two new beta releases and a kind of pause in the update cycle.

• Release 98 (beta) - More image editor improvements, including copy and paste.
• Release 99 (beta) - New image editor tools and improved reliability on mobile platforms.

(The features listed here are only the "highlighted" features for each release. Check each release page to see the complete changelog and comments for each version)

Be sure to keep updated to the most recent release of Construct 2

Scirra has now a new store. For now it allows you to buy licenses for Construct2 as well as music and PDF. More content to be added in the future.

Less custom plugins than usual, but nice and useful additions as always. As there are few adds this month, it's make it all that much worth to check those out.

Four new blog articles on a wide spectrum of subjects. As always, pretty interesting articles written there that definitely deserve to be read.

• The new Scirra store by Tom: An article about the new store, what items that can be found there and what items will be available in the future.
• Releasting early and often - 100 releases of Construct 2 by Ashley: An article as a look-back over Construct 2 development history (with a cool timeline graph) and a few hints on the intentions for the future. Also acts as announcement as a raise for C2's licenses price.
• Interview with Ben Chong: founder of marketJS by Tom: An interview of Ben Chong the founder of MarketJS, a service that allows to monetize HTML5 games, introducing developers and projects to publishers. "marketJS helps Construct2 developers avoid having to think about how to sell a game. That job is handed over to publishers, who have far more resources, a specialized team and statistics to back their decisions. They might publish on the App Store, or Google Play, or one of their many distribution channels that you've never even heard of. ", Ben Chong
• Favourite features competition results by Tom: An article that enumerates and links to the videos of the winners of the "Favourite features competition" .

A little collection of topics worth having a look at and even participating in.

As an added bonus, here are the links to the former "What you may have missed" topics.

July is gone, August is there, for some it's summer vacations, for others it's the long wait for the anticipated R100.

Anyway, the community and C2 are going well, see you next month.

• Another great summary as always, thanks!

• Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
• Thank you !

• And Spritefont has been updated, as well! Practically on the last day of July, heh.

• An awesome month, for me it was the month I stopped lurking and bought a copy!

As more games are created, maybe we could have a section showcasing the best of the month. Of course, only if there are bests! :) would motivate people to make better games!

EDIT: Oh and I like how my question about r100 became a really constructive discussion on all the great things coming in r100

• Thank you all for the nice comments.

Rory: In the former recaps, there was a section about the "Your creation" forum, asking for the community to post about games they considered good during the month, but there were close to no posts on this subject.

Also in the arcade, games are often featured when considered great by the arcade moderators.

If you find out nice games made with C2, don't hesitate to post links in this topic or put comments and upvote in the arcade, that's the kind of showcasing/feedback that would do the trick I believe.

• Ahh, you have a point the arcade is for that and I'm sure as the community grows, there will be more good games and its successes to report on :)

• Thanks for the summary, kyatric!
