Why you can't make PC games with the FREE edition?

Very interesting... Looks like you can make Facebook games but you can't make PC games (non Windows 8 games). What a decision is that? It would be really cool if you can make PC games with the FREE edition, this will not hurt you Scirra!

I'm not actually sure if node-webkit export is allowed in the free version or not, but I'm expecting not.

The free version is very good for what it is! Remember that Scirra has to make money too, so it makes perfect sense to restrict these features to the full version.

Why don't we make the free version have everything? Because we have to make money at some point!

I think because everyone need money , as to develop and to go further. I think without money C2 cannot go further.

If you see other engines they are like more than 2000 Dollars and on the other hand C2 is just less than 150 Dollars.

You can make node-webkit apps with free version, but you have to do the package process manually, and respect the license terms of the free version.JohnnySheffield2013-04-28 19:29:56

Right now, C2 is very close to C1. The only thing you might notice in C1 is that it creates native application, so you can achieve native machine performance. However, with WebGL and the fact that computing power grow exponential every year and the fact that eventually personal computer and mobile phones will merge... Well, right now, we have tablets but soon, we will have something even smaller and more powerful, C2 will be better in the long run. You see now, that HTML5 is pretty much the bomb right now, and you see it almost anywhere but not everywhere yet.

Also, C1 is no longer supported and think about how long will it take to finish your game. In the long run, by that time, C2 will probably grow into something that will obsolete C1 completely given all the reasons above. You will surely have better usability and feasibility on C2.
Right now, C2 possesses superior versions of past plugins, behaviors, and effects; and far exceeds C1 in stability and supported platforms.
Fix'd.
