[quote:130q5xfd]You play as a Military insurgent, who doesn't want to be a Military Insurgent, named Mike. He hates the military and his friend who dragged him into joining. So he runs away. The base he was stationed in was in the desert, so he had some trouble walking across the sandstorm that happened that night. He thinks he is about to die, but then, he finds an abandoned building. He goes inside and notices its a Anti-Air building, left to be demolished back in 2008. He goes to the controls and gets comfortable, putting his legs up on the desk, when he hears the scream of plane engines. He looks out and sees a Cargo plane passing over him. He then realized that this was the route for shipments to the base. "Perfect time for revenge!" He thought. He sat up and moved the AA gun's cross-hairs at the plane. He fired. the bullet flew into the wing and caused the plane to spin. A few seconds later, the plane exploded.

A couple of hours later, the general sends out some planes to find out what happened, only to loose contact with them as well. So he sends in all of the flight squadrons to eliminate whatever is killing their pilots. Of course, the general is a fucking moron, and doesn't send in ground forces. Now Mike is in deep trouble, and he refuses to surrender. He will send Hell up to the planes, and most likely never join the military ever again.

    ...That's when the game starts.

    -------

This game is not finished, but I thought it would be wise to tell you that I am making something with your program. Lol.

My Milestone Sub video I posted recently has some alpha gameplay footage in it:

Tell me what you think so far!

  • Graaahhh!!!

"Paratrooper" (for the PC) was probably a big source of inspiration for this, but I remember a newer (but still old) tribute of sorts to the same game that had better graphics and sound.

    ...but I can't remember it's name.

    Damn you!!!

Seriously though, it looks like a fun throwback to old arcade gaming.

    YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.

I played the better graphics one from the "250 Best Arcade Games" disc when I was a little kid, and I miss it. I cant remember the name either, so I added a wave quotation saying:

[quote:1sdrzqjv] "Fun Fact: This game is based off of a game I played a long time ago, and I cant remember the title. TELL ME WHAT IT IS OR I WILL EAT YOUR CHILDREN."

If anyone can find the better graphics one, post it here or PM me it. I would LOVE to know!

(And if you don't find it, don't worry, I wont eat your children. )

  • Nightraid!

I finally remembered it. They have it over at Abandonia if you're feeling nostalgic (works fine under DosBox).

    YES.

Now I know what else to add:

    -Plane Debris

    -Helicopters

    -A fuckton more paratroopers

-A UFO or other random misc being that comes by and kills the landed paratroopers. Maybe sand monster?
