How does Google rank a search term?

Is there anything that we can do to make Construct more relevant?[/quote:38ox4ssi]

Link to this board and/or your Construct projects on other forums, in the form of a sig link or game announcement threads, etc.

If you see any "Looking for game making software" threads out there, mention Construct.

The more (reputable) links that Google can track back here, the higher the rank will get.

Don't spam, though. Spam is bad. Just bring it up when it comes up.

Spam isn't bad :). It's way more effective than traditional methods, and can cause very little (or none) harm to random people.

Spam could damage the reputation of the project if people see us as needing to resort to spam to promote a program rather than it being quality enough on its own.

Indeed, the best way is a discrete link in signatures on other forums.

I don't put stuff that is not my own in signatures. But I do refer Construct if I make something with it.

That is the idea - make games, mention the tool you used; like "In Another Brother" stirred some interest of experienced developers who are now in love with Construct.

Word of the mouth works the best when you want to target the right audience. We don't really want to attract the masses of pubescent rabid fans of Dragonballz who want everything the easy way.

Yes. But I think Megatronx meant that you haven't used commas to separate keywords, what is a rule for "keywords" field.

Exacly.
http://searchenginewatch.com/2167931[/quote:2uuuekq1]

Of course kewords are not magical, and they doesn't even matter much thise days. Description has got bigger influance on the indexing. But 'good links' and right content obviuesly are the most importand.

How does Google rank a search term?

And for linking from the sites or blogs, use links that have good 'title' tag and should use right keywords we want to position scirra.com. For example

[code:2uuuekq1]<a id="game-engine" title="Free game creator" href="http://www.scirra.com/game-creator/construct.php">Game Creator</a>[/code:2uuuekq1]
( There has to be a '/game-creator/' folder made in the future, for the upcoming site. That's the SEO structure )

And here are the templates you can copy/paste if you want
[code:2uuuekq1]<a id="game-engine" title="Free game creator" href="http://www.scirra.com/">game creator</a>[/code:2uuuekq1]
[code:2uuuekq1]<a id="game-maker" title="2d game engine" href="http://www.scirra.com/">Free game engine</a>[/code:2uuuekq1]
[code:2uuuekq1]<a id="2d-game-creator" title="2d game creator" href="http://www.scirra.com/">2d game creator</a>[/code:2uuuekq1]

It is importand to place the link at the begining or at the end of the post/paragraph, becasue that's where it has got the biggest streangth.
