Workaround for C2 games on IE8 and earlier...

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Hi guys,

Even though Internet Explorer 8 does not support HTML5 elements or Canvas natively, there seem to be a few API's that will make C2 games run on IE8 and earlier browsers:

- ExplorerCanvas: http://excanvas.sourceforge.net/
- FlashCanvas: http://flashcanvas.net/
- Google Chrome Frame: http://code.google.com/chrome/chromeframe/

Has anyone tried using these to get their games working on IE8?

Even though not much is expected on performance, will these work on very simple games?

I will start to test these, but if anyone has tried them it would be of great help!Animate2013-03-25 14:47:06

Apparently Google Chrome Frame works nice.

I believe only Google Chrome Frame will actually work. Our engine assumes various features of the IE9+ browser generation are present, and so you'll probably still run in to javascript errors and such using ExplorerCanvas or FlashCanvas. Since Chrome Frame gives you the full up-to-date Chrome browser in IE, it should work fine and with best performance.
